Wrekin Voices Update 15 July 2025

Welcome to our latest Wrekin Voices update. It's been a hectic few weeks. We hosted our very first joined up workshop welcoming guest speaker Kai Jackson and customers from across the organisation to Colliers Way.

We are also reviewing our engagement and scrutiny model, so please watch out for ways to get involved very soon.

If you would like to share ideas and catch up with other Wrekin Voices, we have a Wrekin Voices Facebook group. You can join here.

Working together

Armed Forces Day - Donnington

As a member of the Armed Forces Covenant, it's always a pleasure to be involved with Armed Forces Day. The event is always well attended with lots for families to do.  We were joined on the day with colleagues from housing, maintenance and our Money Matters teams. It was a great opportunity to engage with visitors about some of our current projects, we even managed to grab a picture with our very own Matt Dudley, Maintenance Supervisor who was there in his role as a reservist with the Royal Yeomanry.

Stigma Workshop

Last week we hosted our first joint workshop where we invited guest speaker Kai Jackson to discuss stigma.  Kai is a Scrutiny panel chair, Tpas Associate and author of #HaveaSeatAtTheTable and shares a wealth of experience and knowledge.  The session was very well attended by customers from the organisation with lots of new faces. The conversations were vibrant and engaging, with it feeling like there wasn't enough time.

ShireLiving

Our ShireLiving Voices recently enjoyed a visit to our newly opened Hazelwood in Whitchurch.  They enjoyed a tour of the building and lunch in the beautiful garden area. The historical Pauls Moss building is central to the new development of 71 apartments with a doctors surgery within the grounds, the general consensus was we would all like to live there.

Brookside Litter Pick

We were out in force on Tuesday to litter pick on Blakemore.  The housing team, Michele from Customer Voice, grounds maintenance and environmental services filled a truck with a variety of bulky items and litter, including a shopping trolley.  Working together helped us to identify other issues, which we were then able to pass quickly to partner organisations such as Telford & Wrekin Council.
